Joanna Shapiro of Honolulu, a retired school psychologist, said she was "thrilled" to find a sign of home while touring South America earlier this year. She spotted a large tiki, a gift from Hawaii, at the Museo de Sitio Intinan, an outdoor museum situated on the equator north of Quito, Ecuador.
