UH-Manoa student awarded Fulbright scholarship

A University of Hawaii at Manoa doctoral student has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Program scholarship to conduct research in Indonesia during the 2011-12 academic year, officials announced today.

“The ultimate aim of my research project is to document these (Indonesian) people’s experiences so their voices can be added to the global discussion on how rainforest conservation and climate change mitigation strategies can be improved in the future,” scholarship awardee Wendy Miles said.

Miles, originally from Kansas, has background in forest ecology, environmental conservation, political economy, strategic planning and management. She has lived, worked and studied in Indonesia.
