The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 22-year-old man who was killed after jumping from the tower at the off-limits Nuuanu Reservoir Sunday as Brandon Yabes of Kapolei.

Firefighters were called to reservoir 4 just after 11 a.m. to search for a missing man. According to witnesses, the man was part of a group of people who illegally entered the restricted property, which is owned by the Board of Water Supply. The man reportedly jumped from a bridge about 100 feet above the water but failed to surface.

HFD divers located the man in about 25 feet of water and transferred him to Emergency Medical Service personnel who took him to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be done this afternoon to determine the cause of death, the medical examiner said today.
