Police conduct training exercise in West Oahu

The Honolulu Police Department is alerting people not to be alarmed by teams of officers and police vehicles traveling between the Waipahu, Ewa and Kalaeloa areas for an unspecified, “large scale training exercise” Sunday until 2 p.m. in West Oahu.

The exercise began at 7 a.m. Sunday and is closed to the public and media, police said.

The U.S. Secret Service, the State Department and the city plan road closures, parking restrictions and other security measures for Waikiki, Ala Moana and Ko Olina for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference from Nov. 7 – 13 that will include President Barack Obama and 20 other Asia-Pacific leaders.

APEC events will occur at the J.W. Ihilani Resort at Ko Olina Nov. 11-13 on the west side of Oahu.
