  • Dr. Dennis Ayon took the stand in his own defense Thursday in his trial on the charge of attempted murder for hire.

The murder-for-hire trial of Wahiawa physician Dennis Ayon ended this afternoon in a mistrial.

After a little more than one full day of deliberation, the jurors declared they were deadlocked.

State Circuit Judge Richard Perkins discharged the jurors and scheduled a new trial for next May.

Ayon, 49, is accused of trying to hire a patient to kill his ex-girlfriend.
