Murder suspect didn’t do it, defense lawyer says
Police got the wrong man, the lawyer for accused killer Toi Nofoa told a jury in state court this morning.
Nofoa, 33, is on trial for first-degree murder for the March 17, 2009 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Royal Kaukani.
Nofoa is facing a possible life prison term without the opportunity for parole, the harshest penalty under state law, because Kaukani, 25, was a witness against him in a kidnapping, assault and threatening case.
