A 19-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday after he crashed while driving a stolen car in Haleiwa.

Police said officers conducting speed enforcement witnessed the crash near Kamehameha Highway and Joseph P. Leong Highway about 1:20 a.m. after seeing the vehicle speed by them.

The driver tried to flee from the scene but was caught by police. Officers discovered later that the vehicle was stolen.

The suspect, of no permanent address, was being held pending charges of theft, speeding, leaving the scene, and driving without a license.
