PBS Hawaii to hold pledge drive after studio fire
Hawaii’s public television station will broadcast its pledge drive Tuesday from an adjacent studio because of a recent electrical fire.
PBS Hawaii President and CEO Leslie Wilcox will host the live broadcast with members of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association staffing the phone bank.
A fire in the studio earlier this month shut down local program production. The fire started when a studio light blew out and spread to ceiling insulation.
PBS Hawaii spokeswoman Roberta Wong Murray says it will cost much more than the fire department’s damage estimate of $250,000 to repair the studio.’
The nonprofit media organization is Hawaii’s only public television station.
