Officers arrest underage teens for joy-riding in stolen cars
State law enforcement officers arrested three teen-aged boys, who were too young to have licenses, driving two stolen cars in Sand Island State Park.
A state Department of Land and Natural Resources enforcement officer saw a 14-year-old male driving erratically at the park at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. When the officer checked, he found out that the car was stolen and blocked the vehicle from leaving the area. The teenager jumped out of the car and ran 200 yards to another car, which police said was also stolen.
Another Department of Land and Natural Resources officer stopped the second car and arrested the 14-year-old and two other juvenile males, both 15, police said.
The three were released pending further investigation.
