Man killed in Hawaii island crash
A 25-year-old man died in a single vehicle accident early Saturday morning in North Kohala.
Hawaii County firefighters responded to the crash near the 9 mile marker on Akoni Pule Highway at about 2:12 a.m., according to a news release.
A vehicle traveling north had rolled over multiple times after the driver drifted left off the road.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was still in the vehicle wearing a seat belt, firefighters said.
The man’s vehicle was found about 40 feet from the highway and about 100 feet from where it left off the road.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
