Suspects in Mililani attempted robbery and stabbing arrested

Police arrested a 25-year-old Mililani man and a 17-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing of a man during a robbery attempt Sunday near Melemanu Park in Mililani.

Police said the two suspects — a 25-year-old man and his 17-year-old partner — stopped the 28-year-old victim who was walking to work just after 4 p.m.

The 17-year-old asked the man for a cigarette and then the older man demanded money, police said. When the victim refused, the juvenile allegedly punched the victim in the face and the 25-year-old man took out a knife and tried to stab the victim, police said.

The victim blocked the knife with his hand and suffered a cut. The 17-year-old was also injured during the struggle, police said.

The victim ran to a nearby store and called police.

The juvenile suspect was taken to the hospital. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, police said.

Officers located the 25-year-old suspect, who was arrested for investigation of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery.
