Theft suspect allegedly hits 2 officers during scuffle

Police arrested a 26-year-old Kapahulu man who allegedly hit two police officers who were trying to subdue him in the Ala Moana area, police said.

Patrol officers stopped the man about 5 a.m. Thursday at 780 Amana St. for questioning regarding a prior theft case.

As they were trying to get his identity, the man shoved two officers and a struggle took place. The man allegedly hit two officers in the head as they tried to subdue him. After the arrest, police found in his possession illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia and a stolen credit card.

Police arrested him on suspicion of two counts of first-degree assault on a police officer, drug offenses, unauthorized possession of personal and confidential information, resisting arrest and two counts of harassment.
