2 charged in alleged theft of heirloom jewelry
A man and woman remained in police custody Saturday morning after allegedly selling the heirloom jewelry of a female family member without her permission.
Jaralyn Matsumura, 19, and Joshua Matsumura, 22, were both cited Friday with petty misdemeanor theft and remained at the main police cell block unable to post $1,000 bail.
Police said a 21-year-old woman found her heirloom jewelry missing and confronted two family members who live with her before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family members allegedly confessed to taking the jewelry and pawning it. Officers arrested Jaralyn and Joshua Mastumura at their Kapahulu home at 12:50 a.m. Thursday.
