Man beaten with metal bar in road-rage incident

A 52-year-old man went to the hospital Wednesday after he was beaten with a metal bar during a case of road rage in Kaneohe.

Police said two men had stepped out of their vehicles and were arguing about a traffic incident near Kaneohe Bay Drive and Nanamoana Street about 1:10 p.m. when the younger man retrieved a metal bar from his vehicle and began striking the older man. The younger man, 31, drove off, but witnesses took down his license plate number.

Officers checked the address of the vehicle owner and found the younger man in front of his Kailua home about an hour later. He was booked for investigation of second-degree assault.

The older man was taken to Castle Medical Center in good condition.
