Fire crews assist injured hiker in Kahana Valley
Fire crews rescued an injured hiker from the back of Kahana Valley today.
The hiker slipped and hurt his leg and was unable to walk out, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
Fire rescue crews responding to the call at 3:30 p.m. rappelled and hiked to the scene and brought the injured man, in his 50s, to a helicopter landing zone.
He was airlifted to a park, then transfered to a city ambulance crew, the spokesman said.
