INDIANAPOLIS >> There will be some surprises in her halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, Madonna promised a packed room of reporters on Thursday.

But there won’t be a Janet Jackson moment, the Material Girl vowed.

“It will be entertainment for all age groups, a feast for your eyes and ears,” said Madonna. “Great attention to detail has been paid to my wardrobe, so there will be no wardrobe malfunction. … I promise.”

The 53-year-old singer/actress, unlike stars of recent halftime shows, did not perform for the mix of sports reporters and entertainment writers.

She said the show would include three of her older hits (such as “Like A Virgin,” “Papa Don’t Preach” and “Holiday”) plus a newer one (a single called “Give Me All Your Loving” will be released Friday on iTunes), but wouldn’t specify which ones.

She also wouldn’t pick a favorite team, though, put on the spot, she said she’d accept a date from Giants quarterback Eli Manning over Patriots quarterback Tom Brady because he’s a New York guy.

The native of Bay City, Mich., who moved to New York to pursue her career as a 19-year-old, said she may be more nervous for this role than any other in her long career.

“For a Midwestern girl, this is it,” said Madonna, who wore a black vest, black pants and black heels with a large cross necklace. “I’m going to dedicate the show to my father; who is the personification of Midwestern values. Of all the things I’ve ever done in all of my life, this is what he’d be most proud of.”

Back in 1991, Madonna didn’t speak highly of the time she spent in Indiana filming “A League Of Their Own” at Evansville’s Bosse Field and Huntingburg’s League Stadium along with the likes of Tom Hanks and Geena Davis. That movie was released in 1992. For that matter, time spent in Chicago at Wrigley Field didn’t draw rave reviews from the actress back then.

But she said she’s excited to be in Indianapolis, where she never has performed, and is looking forward to the arrival of her four kids for a trip to the Children’s Museum.

“I’ve pretty much only been from hotel room to stadium,” she said. “We’ve put an incredible amount of preparation into this, with rehearsals starting in December. I feel like I should be one of the players, with all the physical therapy I’ve had to go through because I injured my hamstring.

“(But) I’m going to dance and sing my butt off for the Super Bowl.”

She won’t be the only entertainer in the house. Lenny Kravitz will perform at a tailgate party, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will sing “America the Beautiful” and Kelly Clarkson will sing the national anthem along with 45 members of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir.
