A 21-year-old Ewa Beach man is facing charges of felony abuse and interference with the reporting of an emergency after he allegedly beat and choked his wife then prevented her from calling police.

According to police, the couple were arguing just after midnight Sunday when the husband struck his wife several times and choked her with his hands. After preventing her from calling the police, he left the resident briefly, then returned.

The wife then called police, who arrested the man.
