The 22nd-ranked University of Hawaii softball team held off No. 20 Florida State 2-1 today to complete a doubleheader sweep in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.

UH pitcher Stephanie Ricketts struck out nine while holding Florida State to two hits and became the program’s all-time leader in wins in improving to 9-0 this season.

Dara Pagaduan hit a solo home run in the third inning and Alex Aguirre’s RBI single in the fourth proved to be the difference and UH ran its record to 15-0 while handing Florida State (16-2) its second loss of the day.

Ricketts earned her 83rd career win, moving her past Kelly Gentle for the career record.

In UH’s first game today, UH junior Kaia Parnaby struck out nine in a 5-0 win over UC Santa Barbara. Pagaduan, Sarah Robinson and Kelly Majam homered in the win.

UH will be the top seed in Sunday’s bracket portion of the tournament. Florida State plays UC Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. UH plays Radford at noon. The losers play for third place at 2 p.m. The winners meet in the championship game at 4 p.m.
