Hawaii's Vander Joaquim slams the ball for a score in the first half of the Utah State vs Hawaii basketball game at Stan Sheriff Center.

University of Hawai’i center  Vander Joaquim has been named to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 6 first team, it was announced today.

He is the first Rainbow Warrior to be honored since Roderick Flemings in 2008-09. The last UH player to get first-team honors was Michael Kuebler in 2003-04.

Joaquim, who will be a senior in 2012-’13, led UH in scoring (14.3 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg), field goal percentage (.560) and blocks (58).

Note: A correction was issued from an earlier release that named Joaquim to the district second team.
