Credit score for Hawaii mortgage applicants fourth highest

The average credit score for mortgage applicants in Hawaii ranked fourth highest nationally last year, down from second highest in 2010, according to a study done by MortgageMarvel.com, a loan information website.

Hawaii mortgage applicants had an average credit score of 748 last year compared with 752 in 2010, according to Mortgage Marvel. The national average credit score was 730 in 2011.

California topped the list with an average  credit score of 754 last year.  Mississippi had the lowest average credit score at 686. Mortgage Marvel analyzed data from 330,000 mortgage applications for the study.
