Kalanikoa Street in Hilo will temporarily have a one-way traffic pattern during the 49th Merrie Monarch Festival next month, the Hawaii County Police Department said.

Traffic will be allowed to flow only in the Puna — or southerly — direction on Kalanikoa Street between Kuawa Street and Piilani Street from noon April 11 through 1 a.m. April 15.

Right turns will be allowed on Kalanikoa Street to accommodate festival participants to enter and exit the Hoolulu Complex.

Traffic will not be allowed to turn left onto Piilani Street from Kalanikoa Street. Right turns onto Piilani Street will be allowed.

Regular two-way traffic will remain in effect on Manono, Kuawa and Piilani Streets.
