Honolulu police are looking for a man in his 30s driving a stolen green Jeep Cherokee that attempted to run over a patrol officer near Chinatown Wednesday morning.

The man was described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

Police said the Jeep, which had been reported stolen, was stopped by officers on Vineyard Boulevard at the Aala Street intersection about 11:24 a.m.

When the woman, 36, was asked to step out of the vehicle, the male pasenger jumped into the driver’s seat, and nearly ran over an officer as he sped away eastbound on Vineyard, police said.

The woman, of Papakolea address, was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle and driving without a license. An attempted murder investigation has been opened up in connection with the man, whose identity is known to police.
