Strong winds tore part of a roof from a home in Manoa, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.

Firefighters were called to the house in the 3300 block of Keahi Street about 7:50 a.m. Saturday and found wind had ripped material away from nearly the entire roof, leaving behind unprotected plywood, said Honolulu fire Capt. Carlton Yamada.

The cast-off materials took down some telephone and cable wires.

Firefighters helped pick up nails and the roofing material.
