COURTESTY: HAWAII NEWS NOW
A police car blocks Kunia Road early this morning as police search for suspects.

Police arrested at least two suspects after a car chase that started in Wahiawa and ended on Kunia Road early Tuesday morning. The pursuit led to the closure of Kunia Road for more than an hour after the suspects fled on foot from their vehicle near the Royal Kunia Golf Course at about 1 a.m.

Police said the pursuit began after one of the suspects, a 46-year-old Kaneohe man, threatened another man with a gun at about 11:30 p.m. Monday night. The dispute began when the suspect allegedly challenged a 54-year-old man to a fight while the man talking with a 50-year-old woman.

The suspect got into a car driven by a 27-year-old Kaneohe woman and drove off, police said.

Officers spotted the car in Wahiawa and the suspects led police on a car chase to Kunia, where their vehicle ran out of gas about 2 miles north of Anonui Street. The suspects got out and ran into a cane field, police said.

Five people were in the car. Officers arrested the 46-year-old man, the 27-year-old woman driver, and a 24-year-old woman at about 1 a.m. and were searching for the other people in the car.

Adlida Correia, 27, was charged with resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving without a license. Her bail was set at $7,000.Police closed Kunia Road between Kupuna Loop and Kunia Camp until about 2:19 a.m. Police did not say if they captured the other people in the vehicle or if they are still looking for them.

Police said the 54-year-old man and 50-year-old woman identified the suspects. The man was arrested for first-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree promotion of dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
