Wahine pairs eliminated at sand volleyball championships

UH's Emily Hartong smacked a kill past Ginger Long on Saturday at Queen's Beach Sandbox.

 

Hawaii’s two pairs were eliminated in the opening round of today’s AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championships pairs tournmanet at Gulf Shores, Ala.

Rainbow Wahine Jane Croson and Ashley Lee, seeded seventh, fell to 10th-seeded Sara Shaw and Geena Urango of USC, 16-21, 21-19, 15-11. UH’s Elizabeth Stoltzman and Emily Hartong, seeded eighth, lost to Long Beach State’s Haleigh Hampton and Chelsea Cabrajac, 22-20, 21-15.

UH’s two teams were among the 16 vying for the title at the inaugural event. Both had finished 1-2 in Friday’s pool play.

Saturday, Pepperdine defeated Long Beach State for the team title.
