Medeiros’ walk-off single sends Waiakea into state final
Korin Medeiros hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give third-seeded Waiakea a 2-1 win over Pearl City in the semifinals of the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA State Baseball Championships on Thursday at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Warriors (19-0) advance to their first state final in 16 years on Friday night at 7.
Kodi Medeiros pitched a three-hitter, striking out eight to earn the win.
Tanner Tokunaga drew a bases-loaded walk to score the only run for Pearl City (11-7), which ended its run at defending last year’s state championship.
Robbey Meguro added an RBI triple in the fourth for the Warriors.
