Would-be robber pulls gun, but victim doesn’t believe it’s real

Police are looking for a man who tried to rob another man at gunpoint Sunday in Pearl City.

Police said the victim, 41, was walking to his car at Pearl City Plaza, 97-719 Kamehameha Highway, about 10 a.m. when another man stuck a black handgun in his chest and demanded money. The victim didn’t think the gun was real and the two men fought.

The victim was hit in the face and scratched on the arm.

The gunman got into a waiting black pickup and left. He didn’t take any money or property.

Police described the gunman as dark-skinned, in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, and about 220 pounds with a muscular build. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue denim jeans.
