Hawaii women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman announced the signings of two players for the 2012-13 season today.

Beeman’s first commitments of her UH coaching career are 5-10 freshman forward Destiny King of Long Beach Poly High (Calif.) and 5-7 guard Monica DeAngelis, a senior transfer from Loyola Marymount.

King averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals per game for the LBP Jackrabbits as a high school senior. She helped her school to a 123-21 record over her prep career and earned the No. 43 forward disctinction by ESPN HoopGurlz.

DeAngelis already earned her bachelor’s degree at LMU and arrives with one season of eligibility. Beeman credited her leadership abilities and skill in running offenses. DeAngelis averaged 5.8 points per game as a Lions junior, shooting 31 percent on 3-pointers and 77 percent at the free-throw line.

The Wahine have three more scholarships available for next season.
