Man arrested for allegedly refusing to leave gym
A 22-year-old Kalihi man left a 24 Hour Fitness gym in handcuffs Tuesday after he refused to leave when an employee told him his membership was expired, police said.
The man entered the Kapiolani Boulevard gym at 10:24 p.m. Tuesday and walked past an employee who told him that his membership had expired, police said.
When an officer arrived and ordered the man to leave the gym, he began swearing at the officer and swatted the officer’s hand when the officer tried to escort him out, police said.
A 23-year-old man associated with the younger man then began to interfere with the arrest, police said.
Police issued a citation agasint the 23-year-old Kalihi man for resisting arrest. He was released after posting $500 bail.
The 22-year-old man was released on $1,100 bail on his citations for harassment, second-degree criminal trespassing, and resisting arrest.
