A motorcycle involved in a critical accident in Nanakuli is loaded on a tow truck this morning.

Paramedics took a 54-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition after a motorcycle crash in Nanakuli this morning.

Police said the motorcyclist couldn’t stop in time to avoid a vehicle stopped, possibly for a pedestrian, in the right town-bound lane of Farrington Highway, just east of Princess Kahunu Avenue.

The driver of the motorcycle swerved, laid the motorcycle down, and was ejected. Police said the man was wearing a helmet and went to the hospital with critical internal injuries.

Police closed the town-bound lanes and one Waianae-bound lane after the crash near the scene shortly before 9 a.m.

All lanes reopened at about 10:15 a.m. after the accident scene was cleared and traffic investigators finished their initial examination of the scene.
