Queen’s recognized as best Hawaii hospital

U.S. News & World Report has recognized the Queen’s Medical Center as the best hospital in Hawaii.

The magazine’s 23rd annual Best Hospitals survey recognized Queen’s as high-performing in the following specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

The article features more than 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals.

The rankings are based largely on data from the federal government, including hospital death rates. Physicians are also asked to name hospitals they consider the leader in their specialties.

U.S. News published the rankings in collaboration with RTI International, a research organization based in North Carolina. For the complete rankings go to http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.
