A 60-year-old visitor from Nebraska was injured Sunday afternoon during an attempted zipline rescue on Maui.

The man was on the zipline when he apparently got stuck just before 3 p.m.. A Flyin Hawaiian Zipline employee attempting to assist the man collided with him on the line, causing a laceration to the back of the man’s head and other injuries.

Both the visitor and the employee were able to make it to a tower next to the Kahili Golf Course, where they were met by Maui Fire Department personnel just before 4 p.m.. Both were airlifted to a landing site then transported by paramedics to a local hospital.
