Two Kapaa residents injured in two hiking accidents on Kauai Saturday remain hospitalized.

A 62-year-old Kapaa man is in guarded condition at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Rescuers were called to the Na Pali Coast at 11 a.m. Saturday after the man fell and injured his head while hiking along the Kalalau Trail about a quarter-mile from Hanakapiai Beach. The injured man was airlifted to the Kee landing zone, then to Princeville Airport, where paramedics drove him to Wilcox Hospital.

In another hiking accident, a 15-year-old Kapaa boy is in critical condition in the Queen’s Medical Center, where he was taken after being initially treated at Wilcox.

Kauai rescue personnel came to the aid of the 15-year-old boy who had fallen about 30 feet from ridge to the bottom of Hoopii Falls in Kapahi while mountain biking with a friend at 2:41 p.m.

The boy was airlifted to Kapahi Park, then transported by medics to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and then was transferred to Queen’s Medical Center.
