Fire crews aid fisherman who runs aground near Keehi Harbor
A man who ran his boat aground while returning from a fishing trip before dawn Wednesday was rescued by firefighters near Keehi Harbor.
The man, who was alone, called for help about 3:45 a.m. when his 17-foot Bayliner power boat got stuck on a shoal, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig. A fire helicopter brought the man back to shore uninjured by 4:20 a.m.
A Department of Land and Natural Resources spokeswoman said the boat owner had the vessel towed back to Keehi Harbor about 7:30 a.m.
