Paramedics took a Honolulu police officer to the hospital in serious condition Sunday morning after a traffic accident.
An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said the 29-year-old man was injured at the Kunia Road on-ramp to the town-bound H-1 Freeway at about 7:25 a.m.
Police said the injured officer responded to the onramp to assist a car that had spun out and hit the guardrail.
Police said another car entering the onramp spun out and hit the officer while he was out of his vehicle retrieving paperwork from his trunk.
