A witness to a hit-and-run accident Friday night on the Likelike Highway followed the alleged suspect until the suspect pulled onto a side street where he was arrested.

The suspect crashed into the back of a motorcycle while driving makai-bound on the Likelike Highway near Alu Street around 11:10 p.m. and drove away, police said.

Paramedics took the motorcycle driver, a Honolulu man, to Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition, police said. 

A witness followed the suspect’s vehicle and called police. 

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, but it is unknown whether speed was a factor, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
