Kailua-Kona man charged with escaping from correctional facility

A 31-year-old Kailua-Kona man wanted for allegedly escaping from a correctional facility was arrested in West Hawaii.

Ryan Jeffries-Hamar was located and arrested Saturday in Kealakekua near  Highway 11 and Halekii Street. He is suspected of escaping from Hale Nani off Route 11 on Aug. 14.

Jeffries-Hamar also had an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of terms and conditions of furlough that he was arrested for.

Jeffries-Hamar was charged Sunday with escape in the second degree. Bail was set at $10,000. There was no bail set by the courts for the arrest warrant.
