Man accused of not paying, then punching cabbie
Police arrested a 59-year-old man for allegedly robbing a 54-year-old taxi cab driver early Saturday morning in Waikiki.
Police said the man refused to pay a $20 cab fare, then allegedly punched the driver in the face twice.
When officers, arrived, the man resisted arrested and caused minor injury to an officer, police said.
The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Kaiulani and Kalakaua avenues.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree robbery, assault, resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer.
The driver and the officer declined medical treatment, police said.
