Man arrested for allegedly firing gun at Waianae Boat Harbor

A 21-year-old Waianae man is in custody after he allegedly fired a gun while parked at Waianae Boat Harbor Sunday night.

The suspect was arrested about 9:30 p.m. after an off-duty police officer at the park saw a car speeding away after hearing a gun shot. As the vehicle drove off, the officer saw four shots fired from there. The officer notified police dispatch of the incident and followed the vehicle.

Police said the suspect vehicle turned onto Orange Street where it lost control and collided into a parked vehicle. The suspected was arrested as he exited the vehicle.

There were no reports of anyone injured from the gunshots. However, the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment after he complained of pain to his knee.

He was arrested on suspicion of a weapons violation. A firearm was recovered.
