The University of Hawaii-Manoa and UH-Hilo will divide $920,727 in donations from the Hawaii Food Industry Association for athletic scholarships this year, the UH Foundation announced today.

UH-Manoa receives $828,654 for its Rainbow Fever Athletic Scholarship Endowment fund while UH-Hilo gets $92,073 for its Vulcan Fever fund.

“The Rainbow Fever program was an idea that was introduced by the late Stan Sheriff and then executed with resounding success by many supportive customers, grocery and convenience retailers and food supplies across the state,'” said Bonny Amemiya, past chairwoman of the HFIA foundation. 

At Manoa, the endowment will support fifth-year athletic scholarships and summer school scholarships. Recipients must be full-time undergraduates who have completed their eligibility and are finishing their studies as a fifth-year student, UH said.
