The Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Lihue will receive a $1.2 million grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs as one of 18 grants totaling $47,462,135.

The grants will allow for establishment, expansion or improvement of Veterans cemetaries in 15 states and for one tribal government.

Since 1980 the Veterans Cemetary Grants Program has awarded more than $483 million to 88 facilities in 43 states and territories, including tribal trust lands, and in Guam and Saipan.
