Maui firefighters early Tuesday afternoon rescued a 50-year-old woman from Tacoma, Wash., who slipped and fell breaking her lower right leg on Bamboo Forest Trail near Hana.

Fire personnel put a splint on her broken leg and placed her onto a backboard. She was carried out and transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center by paramedics.
