Woman arrested after trying to run over man in Wailuku

Irene Evans, 36, was charged with attempted murder today. Her bail is set at $51,000.

Maui police arrested a 36-year-old woman who allegedly tried to run over a man with a pickup truck Thursday in a Wailuku parking lot.

Police received a call of a fight at 215 N. Market St. about 4 p.m. Witnesses told police the argument began in an apartment unit and moved to the parking lot, where the suspect tried to run over the man.

The man jumped onto the hood of the pickup truck, breaking the windshied and sustaining minor injuries and pain to his head and shoulders police said.

The woman also drove the truck into the man’s compact sedan, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage, police said.

Police said the argument started when the man threatened to end the relationship.

Prosecutors charged the suspect, Irene Evans, 36, with attempted murder and criminal property damage.

Bail for Evans was set at $51,000.
