UH softball team sweeps exhibition doubleheader
The University of Hawaii softball team hit seven home runs and swept a doubleheader against Chaminade and Kumamoto International College to close the Fall Paradise Classic today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
UH pitcher Kaia Parnaby struck out 14 and gave up one hit over five innings and the Rainbow Wahine got home runs from Kelly Majam, Keiki Carlos and Kristina Akiona an 11-1 win over Chaminade.
Carlos got the pitching start against Kumamoto and earned a complete-game victory in UH’s 15-5 win. Carlos struck out nine and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Akiona, Sharla Kliebenstein, Kaile Nakao and Jori Jasper all went deep for the UH offense.
Chaminade defeated Kumamoto 9-6 in the first game of the day. Chaminade shortstop Rayna Strom-Okimoto hit two home runs and drove in six runs for the Silverswords.
