Isle U.S. attorney collects $3.3M in civil and criminal cases

The U.S. attorney for Hawaii collected $3.3 million related to civil and criminal cases during the latest fiscal year.

Most of that was collected as part of criminal cases during fiscal year 2012. The office says it collected another $4.7 million in criminal and civil forfeitures.

According to a news release, U.S. attorneys’ offices nationally collected $13.1 billion in criminal and civil actions during the year, up from $6.5 billion in fiscal year 2011. 

Hawaii U.S. Attorney Florence Nakakuni says her office is dedicated to protecting the public and to recovering funds for the federal treasury and crime victims.
