A 56-year-old Makiki man, apparently angered by the actions of a motorist, allegedly used his cane to break the taillight of the victim’s car and then assaulted the driver, according to police.

Police said the suspect was in marked crosswalk on Lusitana Street Wednesday afternoon when the motorist suddenly stopped before the crosswalk.

The suspect used his cane to break a taillight on the driver’s car, then illegally entered the car and allegedly assaulted the driver, police said.

The suspect was arrested on a charge of unauthorized entry into a private vehicle and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
