Honolulu’s Christmas car rental rates the highest
Honolulu will have the highest daily car rental rates in the nation over the Christmas holiday, according to a new survey by CheapCarRental.net.
Honolulu’s average daily rate of $106 is 112 percent higher than what customers normally would pay.
Travelers in Miami will pay nearly triple the normal rate, or $84 per day to rent a car between Dec. 22 and Dec. 27. The normal average daily rate is $24. CheapCarRental.net found the Miami percentage hike to be the biggest in its survey.
The top 10 markets for percentage rate increases for daily car rentals were:
1. Miami, Fla., $84 (250%); 2. Phoenix, Ariz., $76 (181%); 3. Denver, Colo., $62 (148%); 4. Las Vegas $56 (143%), 5. Honolulu $106 (112%), 6. Minneapolis, Minn., $61 (110%); 7. Orlando, Fla., $41 (105%); 8. San Diego, Calif., $45 (91%); 9. Chicago, $57 (90); and No. 10. Los Angeles $40 (70%).
