Chase Tapley made six 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 33 points today to lead No. 18 San Diego State to an 80-58 victory over San Francisco in the first round of the Diamond Head Classic.

The Aztecs (10-1) won their 10th straight game since a season-opening loss against Syracuse, and it was their seventh win this year over a California school.

San Diego State will play Indiana State in the semifinals on Sunday.

The Dons (5-5) tried to keep it close and never let San Diego State lead by more than 10 points until just over six minutes were left. Tapley hit the last of his 3s for a 68-52 lead as the Aztecs began to pull away.

Cole Dickerson led San Francisco with 15 points.
