Hawaii tops Cincinnati in OT in women’s basketball
Hawaii senior guard Monica DeAngelis scored a career-high 21 points and hit a pull-up jumper in the lane with 7 seconds left in overtime to lead the Rainbow Wahine basketball team to a 65-63 overtime victory over Cincinnati tonight in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH junior forward Kamilah Martin added 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
Hawaii (4-6) faces Alabama (9-3) for the tournament championship Sunday at 5 p.m.
It was the Wahine’s first win over a Big East team since Nov. 29, 2003 when they defeated Syracuse 72-63. It marked the first time this season that UH has won two consecutive games.
The Bearcats (7-5) were led by junior guard Dayeesha Hollins’ 24 points.
In today’s earlier game, Alabama defeated LIU Brooklyn 80-58.
