Naked swordsman arrested by San Jose police

SAN JOSE, Calif. » Police arrested a naked man wielding a large Samurai sword after a three-hour New Year’s Day standoff in San Jose.

The Mercury News reports police received a call about a man with an assault rifle in front of a residence near south San Jose. The man drove away and when officers stopped his car he jumped out of his car naked, brandishing the sword.

During the standoff the suspect shouted several times, "You’re going to have to kill me."

The newspaper says officers used a flash-bang device to distract the man, and then rushed him.

Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Coco Bennett.

Officers recovered a rifle from his vehicle.
